The Ten Kingdoms were a number of ruling powers outside the Central Plains, some of which submitted to the Central Plains regime, while others made themselves kings, starting with the first ruling kingdom, Wu, and ending with the last kingdom, Beihan, which was overthrown by the Great Song Dynasty, a total of more than seventy years.
